Naples is… a thousand colors. “But better on two wheels”: the city by Corrado Folinea

Discovering a new city, through scenarios that change with every glance, from the top of Mount Echia to the bottom of the metro, a "mandatory museum". The Passenger talks about Naples with Corrado Folinea, founder of Museo Apparente and Galleria Acappella

“Inside the City” #04 - Corrado Folinea

«Naples is made to be seen and toured on two wheels. It’s not a flat city, but a hilly one and it has particularly beautiful colors, one of its strengths. This gives you the chance to see scenarios that change every day». This is Naples according to artist and  gallery owner Corrado Folinea, founder of Galleria Acappella, one of the cultural spaces that animate the city together with Museo Apparente, created by Folinea himself.

«Naples has an enormous potential to evolve. Thinking about how much we have and how much we can offer those who come to see this city, it is still very much at a standstill. There is a lot of room to improve». The Passenger travels to the city overlooking the Gulf to discover its iconic places together with Folinea: a horizontal trajectory, crossing Mergellina, the city’s geographical centrebut also a vertical one.

We observe Naples from the top of Mount Echia, the promontory reached by a modern elevator, and we go underground to the subway. Here, stations set up with installations create a true "mandatory museum" that obliges “the public to linger or at least catch a  glimpse of works of art - explains Folinea -. I really like this combination of public transport and museums”.

In between, there is a vibrant city that lives and moves under the blue sky, between the alleys of the characteristic neighborhoods and the spirit of the city that fascinate tourists and artists alike: «I like the sense of participation of the Neapolitans. There is always a very strong participation of the citizens in taking ownership of the works that are installed in the squares».

The Passenger -A web series by Infra Journal

A city, a protagonist. "Inside The City" is the title of the new season of The Passenger, a collection of stories from Infra Journal told with the words and faces of the subjects that give life to each episode. Mobility and the urban environment are each time the trait-d'union that unites the episodes shot, through different cities of Italy.

A journey in search of the spirit of places, genius loci but also of change in becoming, in the way of moving, living and working. The interviewees, with their personal sensibilities and attitudes, will transport us between streets, neighborhoods and metropolises, in an inextricable maze of suggestions and experiences, towards the future smart city. Many stories with different voices, as always to explore, understand and, why not, be inspired.
